You might notice that our dog Duke has his paws on a bully stick in this photo. Otherwise he surely would have walked over and tried to lick my lens. 2012 was many things, including the year of the puppy in our house.
We all missed Duke so much during our weekend in Salt Lake City---a big thanks to Gabe & Sarah who took care of him, and to their dogs, Kessel and Amici, who entertained him and wore him out for us!
Duke is the perfect subject for Rebecca’s Simple Things series, because one of his greatest gifts is relishing the everyday, simple things. Our boys like to take turns cracking us up with their version of Duke’s inner dialogue, but one thing is certain---all caps and exclamation marks are how Duke greets the world: A WALK! THE BALL! FOOD! AND YOU---BEAUTIFUL YOU---WHO I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE AGAIN---YOU! That’s how Duke greets them every day after school.

This post is part of Rebecca Cooper’s Simple Things Sunday series, which she describes as “taking the time to photograph the everyday details…to enjoy the beauty in the ordinary and to be reminded of just how important the simple things are.”
sweet shot! :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet face! Great picture. My husband and I got a yellow lab puppy about a year ago and she's constantly making us laugh. Who knew dogs could be funny :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika. I loved seeing your dog photos---I often wish Duke had a lazy-streak! Here's to the joy dogs bring:)
